Spring Hill Auction Barn has been operating at the same location since 1966 and is one of the oldest continuing auction barns in operation in the state. Unlike many real estate companies, Gary Realty and Auction is devoted solely to the auction profession. Ben Gary started in the auction business at the age of 15. Ben's license number reads number 27 out of a total of 4500 current licensed auctioneers in the state of Tennessee. In 1994 Ben was inducted into the Tennessee Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. Ben has served as the vice president and member of the board of directors for the Tennessee Auctioneers Association. Mrs. Burnetta Gary, Ben's wife, has worked with Gary Realty and Auction along side Ben since the beginning as the cashier and book keeper. James Gary, Ben and Burnetta's son, started working with his father at auctions at the age of six and became licensed at the age of 18, the minimum age limit allowed by the state of Tennessee. He gained his real estate broker license in 1988. James has served has president and member of the board of directors of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association. James is currently serving as Secretary of the Auction Profession Foundation of Tennessee which is an organization devoted to the promotion of the auction profession. James is also currently involved in the National Association of Auctioneers and the Middle Tennessee Auctioneers Group. Several of Gary Realty and Auction employees have been working with Gary Realty and Auction for 20 plus years. |
